The Raven
Objective: Students
will decorate their own ravens.

tracers, oil pastels, Book: “Raven”
Procedure: After
reading “Raven” I will show students how to decorate their Raven with a variety
of shapes and colors like the Native Americans of the Pacific North West. If time
permits, students can add a background drawing with crayons.
Assessment: A=follows

Rule of Halves
Objective: students will
learn about the “rule of halves” facial measurements.
Materials: examples of portraits,
paper, and pencils
Procedure: I will show
students Leonardo Di Vinci’s ideal measurements for the human face. I will then
show the students example of portraits from photographs. I will trace the faces
with markers comparing where certain faces adhere to a deviant from Di Vinci’s
facial measurements.
Assessment: There are 14 tiny steps to drawing
Di Vinci’s face. Students who draw them all get an A. Students missing 1/2
steps =B Faces missing 3-4 steps earn a C. Missing 5 or more steps=D.
refusing to do the assignment=F
