Twenty-Second Assignment for Fourth and Fifth (Finish Highway Men Landscape)
Florida Landscapes (part2)
Objective: Students will paint a
Florida landscape in the style of the Highway Men.
Materials: poster board, water
colors, water cups, Highway Men paintings
Procedure: After discussing
the historical and artistic significance of the Highway Men, we will look at
examples of their work. Students will compare and contrast similarities and
differences among landscapes. I will pass out supplies and the class will
follow a step by step demonstration painting a landscape in the style of the
Highway Men. When painting a landscape, it is important to work from the
background to the foreground. Today, the students will paint middle ground and
foreground elements/details.
Assessment: A=follows
ALL instructions (or does more) with great craftsmanshipB=follows MOST
instructions with good craftsmanship C=follows SOME instructions
with good craftsmanship D=does little work/ poor effort F=does
NO work

Twenty-second Assignment for Second and Third (Color Tin Foil Masks)
Draw
African Mask
Objective: Students will draw an African Mask on poster board
Materials: 5 teacher examples, paper, pencils
Procedure: We will look at and discuss different African masks, what their
significance and importance is/are. I will draw 5 African masks using simple
shapes and simple lines. The students must copy one or draw their own.
Assessment: A=follows ALL instructions (or does more) with
great craftsmanshipB=follows MOST instructions with good
craftsmanship C=follows SOME instructions with good
