Paint Stripes/Pattern (Self-Portraits part1)
Objective: Students will paint a pattern (variety of colors/designs/stripes)
Materials: paint, paper
Procedure: After reading “A Bad Case of Stripes” students are expected to paint an entire piece of paper will a pattern of their choosing following a demonstration.

Intro to Cityscapes/ Pre-test/ Draw a skyline

Students will draw a cityscape without any instructions. This will serve as a base line for my SLO's. This will show me which students can show how depth can be simulated when objects over lap.

Objective: Students will trace three city skylines.

Procedure: students will trace three skylines taking into account overlapping foreground, middle ground, and background.

Color X-rays/Technology Portraits
Objective: If students have finished tracing their technology portraits with the markers from last week, students will start coloring their picture this week.
Materials: picture, markers, crayons.
Procedure: If students have finished tracing their technology portraits with the markers from last week, students will start coloring their picture this week. It is important that the students take their time and not scribble. It is just as important that students not use the same color for adjacent shapes on their pictures so that their artwork is optimally colorful.

2nd and 3rd Grade Assignment #4

Paint a Landscape
Objective: Students will draw a landscape making sure that they draw an object above the horizon line, below the horizon line, and crossing the horizon line.
Materials: landscape prints, crayons and paper
Procedure: First, we review the differences between vertical, diagonal and horizontal lines. You cannot spell horizontal without h-o-r-i-z-o-n. The horizon line is the imaginary horizontal line where the sky touches the ground. We will look at five different landscapes, from five different artists, from five different time periods, from five different countries. Students will help me identify the horizon line using a horizontal yard stick for help. We see that the horizon line is NEVER at the bottom edge of the painting. Students will then follow a demonstration by me, seeing my painting expectations. They will apply a wash for their landscape.
