Sculpt Pinch
Pot Creatures
I
like to have at least one sculptural assignment every year for every child.
Objective: Students will sculpt a
three-dimension pinch pot creature out of clay.
Materials: teacher example, clay, paper,
pencils, other examples
Procedure: Students will look at
various options they have for creating their pinch pot creatures. Once all of
the supplies are passed out, students will follow a step-by-step basic
demonstration. They will start by separating their clay into two parts, one for
the pinch pot, the other part for add-ons. With the bigger half of the clay,
students will make a pinch pot. With the other half of the clay, students are
free to add anything they want to their pinch pot creatures (tails, eyes,
noses, ears, teeth, fins, tails, horns, legs, feet.) Due to the limited storage
space and the amount of students, the classes will only have one clay period to
sculpt.
Assessment: A=follows ALL
instructions (or does more) with great craftsmanship B=follows MOST instructions with good craftsmanship C=follows SOME instructions with good
craftsmanship D=does little work/
poor effort F=does NO work
